The shape of me

I don’t go for the genetic family stuff, the past. I think it’s my future that defines me. It’s who I will be that shapes who I am now, like a lump of clay spinning on a potter’s wheel, manipulated by skilled hands into a curvaceous urn resembling not so much Grecian artifacts but more modern designs. Gently influenced by ancient forms while desiring change, and taking shape into new patterns only imagined in the artist’s mind.

That is the shape of me, an idea of what is to come, sculpted by craftsmen’s hands of a recent past. Thoughts like these excite me about the future.

They are the possibilities yet unseen.
